Games Workshop Survives Pandemic and Plans to Repay Government Subsidies

Games Workshop continues to be a massive success story in the UK and beyond, as its latest financial update reveals it’s come through the pandemic relatively unscathed, profitable, and with money in the bank.

So much money in the bank, in fact, that it intends to repay the government support it received at the beginning of the lockdown period, as its latest projections say it’ll bank around £85m in pre-tax profits this year. The chain has reopened 306 of its 532 branches around the world, and says the bounce back since restarting business has been “better than expected,” and adds that its warehouses are up, and the factories are churning out the little orcs as best they can under staff distancing rules. [GW via The Times]
