George Galloway brilliantly breaks down what will happen if Scotland leaves the UK

GEORGE GALLOWAY brilliantly outlined exactly what Scotland risks losing by leaving the United Kingdom.

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has repeatedly called for Boris Johnson to grant Scotland the power to hold another referendum on independence from the United Kingdom. Scotland previously had a referendum in 2014 where the country voted to remain part of the UK but following last week’s general election, where the SNP won 48 seats, Ms Sturgeon has continuously called for Indyref2. However, Mr Galloway questioned if independence would actually benefit Scotland.

Mr Galloway said: “If you want to be independent why would you leave a Union in which you have a considerable say to join a Union in which you will be tiny dot on the map.

“Why would you leave a Union with whom you have more than 300 years of common experience, a common language and a gigantic market for your goods and services?

“Absolute free movement between your country and England, why would you do that in order to hook up with Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria and the rest?

“With which you have absolutely nothing in common, either historically, culturally linguistically or economically.

“Why would you leave a country where you have a single currency and apply to join the Euro which operates in the interest of the very central places?”

Earlier this week the SNP leader was brutally attacked by Conservative Jackson Carlaw over the SNP’s NHS record in Scotland.

The Scottish Conservative Party leader savaged Ms Sturgeon during Scottish First Minister Questions as he named multiple targets the Scottish NHS has failed to meet during the time the SNP has been the largest political party in Scottish Parliament.

Mr Carlaw said: “Well First Minister, here is the current score.

“The 12 week treatment time guarantee – missed and never met.

“The 18 week referral to treatment – missed.

“The 6 week wait for diagnostics – missed.

“The 18 week wait for psychological treatment – missed.

“The 18 week mental health target, missed.”

He continued: “That is your record in 2019 First Minister.

“When you were showboating for the cameras this morning did you not think that the thousands of patients who have been let down by your government should have been due your apology?”

Ms Sturgeon hit back: “Let me remind Jackson Carlaw this government has an £850 million waiting times improvement programme which is delivering improvement and making progress.

“For Jackson Carlaw to stand up in this chamber the week after under the Conservatives in England the worst waiting times on record were recorded is quite frankly a bit rich.”
