Girl, 8, drowns in front of distraught family after losing footing in lake and stumbling into much deeper water

A GIRL, 8, drowned in front of her distraught family after she lost her footing, stumbling into much deeper water.

Little Narin was reportedly splashing against a rope with her three siblings in the non-swimming area of a lake in Pfullendorf on Saturday before the tragedy unfolded.

Police suspect that the eight-year-old went under in the lido area at the Seepark Lingzau leisure park in Baden Wurtemmberg but they are still investigating the cause of death.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred at around 5:30pm.

Narin’s father Abbas Musa, 40, believes the little girl lost her footing as she fell into much deeper water.

“She must have slipped and sunk on the steep water edge. We never saw her again,” he said.

A diver discovered the child minutes later and other bathers reportedly helped bring the little girl ashore.

Doctors tried to resuscitate Narin but tragically they were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at 7pm, over an hour later.

The child had been at the lake with her family.

Lake manager Joerg-Arne Bias, 49, described the child’s death as a “tragic calamity.”

“Without a lifeguard, there is no swimming facility here, the lake is up to 11 metres (36 feet) deep in the bathing area. We even have rescue divers on site,” he reportedly told Bild.

“It is a tragic calamity,” he said.

Investigations into how the accident occurred are now underway.

Narin will be buried in a cemetery in Messkirch, according to reports.
