Hezbollah condemns U.S. jets interception of Iranian civilian aircraft

BEIRUT, July 24 (Xinhua) — Hezbollah condemned on Friday the “aggressive act of threatening and terrorizing Iranian civilian aircraft over Syria’s airspace by U.S. warplanes,” the National News Agency reported.

“This is a terrorist act that is very dangerous which could have had very bad repercussions at the level of the whole region,” Hezbollah’s statement said.

Hezbollah added in its statement that the interception by two U.S. warplanes of a civilian aircraft with Lebanese citizens on board necessitates a decisive international stance against the U.S., while affirming that the U.S. is occupying Syrian lands and airspace.

Hezbollah also expressed its solidarity with Iran and Syria in face of the U.S. hegemony.

Over 150 passengers on board the Iranian plane were evacuated on Thursday evening after its landing at Beirut airport following interception by U.S. warplanes.

A source at the airport told Xinhua that some of the passengers suffered mild injuries. Enditem
