URUMQI, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) — Lester Hudson scored a game-high 39 points while Shandong Heroes ended the embarrassing record of 0-22 road games to Xinjiang Flying Tigers since 2002 in the 2019-2020 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Sunday night.
Shandong’s Tao Hanlin provided an early spark in the second quarter, scoring eight points in a row. Xinjiang later outscored their guests 16-10 when Zeng Lingxu handed out three consecutive assists to respond to a 7-0 run.
For Hudson, there was no nervousness when facing his former club, who chipped in 13 points in the second to lift Shandong as it regained a five-point lead into the break.
The veteran continued to feed James Mays for an easy basket, then hit a three-pointer to stretch the advantage to 89-73 in the third period.
It was enough for Shandong to close out the laudable victory when Li Jingyu added another dagger three-pointer with 1:40 remaining.
Xinjiang’s Zhou Qi collected 18 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Zeng Lingxu’s 15 points and 12 assists.
Tao Hanlin and Mays combined 44 points for Shandong.
