Indian president undergoes bypass surgery successfully

NEW DELHI, March 30 (Xinhua) — Indian President Ram Nath Kovind has undergone a successful bypass surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) located in the capital New Delhi, officials said Tuesday.

“The President of India Ramnath Kovind has undergone a successful bypass surgery at AIIMS, Delhi. I congratulate the team of doctors for successful operation,” Defense Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on social media.

Last week, the president was admitted to the Indian army’s Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi after experiencing chest discomfort.

He was shifted to the AIIMS, where doctors had advised him to undergo a planned bypass procedure. Enditem
