JERUSALEM, July 24 (Xinhua) — Israel’s Ministry of Health reported 1,493 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number to 59,475.
The death toll rose to 448 after six new death cases were added, while the number of patients in serious condition rose from 301 to 308, out of 699 patients currently hospitalized.
The number of active cases decreased for the second time since May 30, totaling 32,230.
The decline follows a decision by the ministry on Wednesday to shorten the quarantine period of recovered patients, adopting recommendations of the World Health Organization.
Thus, the number of daily new recoveries amounted to 2,753, bringing the total number of recoveries to 26,797.
On Friday afternoon, all shops, malls, barber shops, beauty salons, markets and libraries in Israel were closed until Sunday morning, as part of weekend restrictions.
China and Israel have cooperated on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. On Feb. 11, the Tel Aviv Municipality Hall, a landmark in the Israeli city Tel Aviv, was illuminated with the colors of China’s national flag, showing solidarity with China in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
On March 19 and April 1, two video conferences were held between Chinese doctors and Israeli counterparts to share experiences in containing the virus’ spread and treatment of coronavirus patients. Enditem
