MADRID, July 27 (Xinhua) — Spanish La Liga club, Valencia on Monday confirmed Javi Gracia as their new first team coach until the end of June 2022.

The 50-year-old has a lot of experience of coaching in his homeland after spells with Malaga, Osasuna, Almeria and Cadiz, but joins Valencia after disappointing spells at Russian side Ruben Kazan and at Premier League outfit, Watford, who sacked him after suffering four defeats in the opening four games of last season.

“I am very happy to be able to join this great club and in this beautiful city,” said Gracia on the Valencia website.

The coach said he wanted to see “the great squad that we have be a brave, aggressive and balanced team. We all like to talk about attacking football but the success of a team comes through its balance and we will try to do that with the great squad and excellent players that we have,” he added.

Despite his optimism, Gracia faces a difficult task at a club that failed to qualify for Europe this season and which is likely to lose talented youngster Ferran Torres before the start of the new season.

Meanwhile the dreadful relationship between Valencia fans and club owner Peter Lim, is also likely to make Gracia’s task more complicated after Marcelino Garcia Toral and Albert Celades were both sacked by Valencia last season. Enditem
