KUWAIT CITY, July 27 (Xinhua) — Kuwait has organized workshops aiming to spread awareness of the goals of sustainable development in various entities, a Kuwaiti official said Monday.
Khaled Mahdi, secretary-general of the Kuwait’s Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD), said in a statement that SCPD General Secretariat in cooperation with the Central Administration for Statistics organized a series of introductory workshops for such goals.
Altogether 13 workshops were organized over a period of four weeks, where 66 governmental agencies attended a presentation of the sustainable development goals to determine what is required from these entities to be involved in the development plan, he said.
They also attended the central administration’s presentation of the data required for sustainable development indicators, he noted.
The SCPD General Secretariat has been working to align the sustainable development goals with the national medium-term development plan to accelerate the pace of achieving Kuwait’s Vision 2035.
Kuwait’s Vision 2035 is a national development plan designed to introduce a change in Kuwait’s oil-reliant economic structure and transform the oil-rich Gulf state into a trade and financial hub by 2035. Enditem
