Kuwait receives belongings returned from Iraq

KUWAIT CITY, March 28 (Xinhua) — Kuwait received on Sunday a batch of belongings seized by the Iraqi side during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

At a handover ceremony, Nasser Al-Hain, Assistant of Kuwait’s Foreign Minister for international organizations, said that the event is a positive step that comes within the commitment of Iraq to implement the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.

This is a step strengthening the fraternal relations between the two countries, Al-Hain stressed, noting that Kuwait appreciates Iraq’s efforts in completing the handover of all Kuwaiti property and archives.

“This batch includes properties, archives, and some special equipment of the Ministry of Information, the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, and Kuwait University,” he added.

For his part, Qahtan Al-Janabi, Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Legal Affairs, affirmed keenness of his country and people to develop bilateral relations with Kuwait and overcome all difficulties to restore relations and start a new chapter to cooperate in political, economic, commercial, investment and cultural fields.
