Live COVID-19 updates: Kyrgyzstan’s COVID-19 cases exceed 25,000

BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) — The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

BISHKEK — Kyrgyzstan on Saturday reported 1,264 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 25,047.

The republican headquarters on COVID-19 reported that among the new cases, 70 are medical workers, raising the tally of infected medical workers to 2,269, including 600 recoveries.

MINSK — Belarus reported 171 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Saturday, taking its nationwide tally to 65,953, according to the country’s health ministry.

There were 486 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 57,856, the ministry added.

So far, 495 people have died from the disease in the country, along with four deaths in the last 24 hours, it said.

TEHRAN — Iran reported 2,166 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, taking the total confirmed cases to 271,606 on Saturday, according to the official IRNA news agency.

Sima Sadat Lari, the spokeswoman for Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said during her daily update that out of the new cases, 1,293 have been hospitalized.

BEIJING — More than 90 percent of Chinese parents said their children have resumed outdoor exercise as the COVID-19 epidemic has waned, according to a recent survey by the China Youth Daily.

Nearly 54 percent of the respondents said their children do outdoor activities four days a week, which include jogging, jump rope workout and playing football.

SOFIA — The number of active COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria has surged to 4,112, following the upward trend since June 6, official figures showed on Saturday.

According to the country’s Health Ministry, 298 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed across the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 8,442.

MOSCOW — Russia registered 6,234 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking its nationwide tally to 765,437, the country’s coronavirus response center said in a statement Saturday.

The country’s death toll has surged by 124 to 12,247, while 546,863 people have recovered, including 7,490 in the last 24 hours, the statement added. Enditem
