Liverpool’s Premier League Trophy Lifting Details Out, Players Choose Coldplay Song To Celebrate

Liverpool FC players have reportedly chosen Coldplay’s ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ as one of the songs to feature when they lift the Premier League trophy after their Chelsea fixture at Anfield.

Marking the end of a 30-year long wait, The Reds are set to lift their first top-flight English league title, which is also their maiden Premier League trophy. The much-awaited ceremony will take place Wednesday, July 22, after their Chelsea match, which is their last home game of the Premier League 2019-20 campaign.

It is understood that the trophy lifting will take place on a platform built onto the Kop, Anfield’s famous old stand, to allow the players to celebrate and the rest of the ground will be in darkness as a light show and fireworks are believed to take place during the trophy lifting ceremony.

According to a report in the English publication The Athletic, each player will be allotted an area on the platform so they can adhere to the social distancing norms during the ceremony before being allowed to gather together with captain Jordan Henderson, who’ll lift the prestigious trophy for Liverpool.

While Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, club’s last title-winning manager, will hand out medals to the players instead of placing them around their necks, Henderson won’t be presented with the trophy in a traditional manner. Instead, he will walk over to pick it up off a plinth before rejoining his teammates.

The report has further revealed that some of Liverpool’s senior players have been personally involved in organizing the celebrations due to happen after the Chelsea game and have picked some of their own favorite music for the event.

Liverpool were crowned champions officially last month after Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Klopp, who took charge of the Anfield side in 2015, has now won four trophies as the Liverpool boss including UEFA Champions League 2018-19, UEFA Super Cup 2019, FIFA Club World Cup 2019 and Premier League 2019-20.

In a recent interview, Klopp described the wait to lift the trophy, “like Christmas” and also suggested that he is very proud to finally win it.
