A man in San Diego, Calif., was allegedly pepper-sprayed by a woman for not wearing a mask at a dog park.
On Thursday, July 23, afternoon Ash O’Brien and her husband were at a dog park with their puppy when they decided to sit at a picnic table and enjoy a meal. Just when they started having their meal, a woman stopped by and confronted the couple for not wearing a mask and eating where there is no food policy.
The unidentified woman then got into an argument with the couple following which she left. Moments later, she returned to the picnic table and pepper-sprayed the man, 10 News reported.
“She just came up without saying anything and just stuck the mace can right in front of my face,” O’Brien told 10 News.
“My husband, being a good guy, walked in front of her and was like ‘hey calm down please don’t do this’ and then she grabbed him and just starting macing him, she used the entire can on him,” she continued.
Following the encounter, the man was rushed to a hospital where he was treated.
“If we knew there was a no food policy, we wouldn’t have brought it into the park. The lady who maced him automatically started saying stuff about us not wearing a mask when we were social distancing; there was no one near us,” O’Brien told the television station.
A police complaint has been filed against the woman.
“I want her to go to jail, she assaulted my husband, and I’m angry about it. People don’t need to be getting assaulted for not wearing a mask in a public outdoor area,” O’Brien said, adding that she was thankful that no canines were injured by the pepper spray at the dog park
The incident comes less than a month after a woman in California was caught on camera coughing on a bartender at a pub after she was called out for not wearing a face covering.
