Manchester United want to sign Jadon Sancho in the January transfer window but will now be rivalled by Manchester City.
Manchester United’s hopes of signing Jadon Sancho have been dealt a blow by neighbours Manchester City. Reports have claimed that Pep Guardiola wants to re-sign the forward because he fears Leroy Sane could potentially leave the club, with Bayern Munich keen on bringing the winger back to Germany.
Sancho left City in 2017 to pursue a new challenge in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, having spent two years at the Premier League club’s academy.
He was left out of their pre-season tour squad that summer after asking for assurances over his playing time.
City were unable to give him that which resulted in the failure to agree a new contract.
Yet now, according to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions are plotting a deal to bring him back to the Etihad.

It will come as bad news for Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identifying Sancho as a top transfer target.
City are concerned about the long-term future of Leroy Sane, who is hesitating over a new deal amid interest from Bayern Munich.
Guardiola warned the German in the summer that only happy players will stay at the club, suggesting that Sane will be shown the exit door if he doesn’t show commitment.
“The club made him an offer last year,” said Guardiola in July.

“So, I have said many times, we only want people happy to be here.
“We are going to help him to be the best, we know his potential and what level he is. He has a special quality that is difficult to find around the world. He knows, they all know, all the forwards, all the midfielders, how difficult it is to play, it’s difficult because of the quality we have.
“But, at the same time I spoke to the club ten times and I want people here to be happy, if they don’t want, they go. The desire to have him be with us is always there.”
Sane is yet to kick a ball in the Premier League this season after suffering knee ligament damage in the Community Shield penalty shootout win over Liverpool at Wembley in August.
Bayern Munich face a fight to retain the Bundesliga title this season and are expected to strengthen in the summer. Sane remains one of their top targets and is seen as a long-term replacement for Arjen Robben or Franck Ribery.
Unfortunately for City, they do not have any buyback or first option clause in Sancho’s Dortmund contract.
The England international is reportedly unhappy at the German club after being made an example of by Lucien Favre.
He is said to be open to leaving the club in the January transfer window, although a summer move now seems more likely now he has been reinstated into the side.
United tried to prise him away from Signal Iduna Park last summer but failed in their attempts. They are expected to return to the market with a right-sided forward high on their list of priorities.
They know that missing out on a player of Sancho’s profile and quality could prove costly in closing the gap on the top of the Premier League.
Dortmund are likely to listen to offers but will demand over £100million before they agree to sanction his exit.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is expected to hand Solskjaer significant funds to improve his squad for the second half of the season as they bid to secure the return of Champions League football.
