Dimitar Berbatov predicts Man Utd vs Everton

Dimitar Berbatov expects Manchester United to edge Everton, despite their win over Chelsea last weekend.

Both clubs earned big victories a week ago as United overcame Manchester City at the Etihad while under interim boss Duncan Ferguson, Everton beat Chelsea 3-1 at Goodison Park.

Previewing Sunday’s clash, Berbatov told Betfair: “I was very happy after the Manchester derby because United fully deserved their victory over City.

“United’s concentration levels and aggression in the tackle were fantastic and they played some superb combination football.

“It’s great to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s youngsters playing with confidence from defence to attack. I can tell they like their manager and want to win for him.

“On Thursday, Mason Greenwood showed in the 4-0 win over AZ Alkmaar that he’s a natural born goalscorer with a striker’s instinct. Solskjaer should be praised for giving him the chance to shine.”

£250m transfer kitty revealed

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be handed a £250m transfer kitty next year to rebuild the Red Devils. United are hoping to finish in the top four this season then push for the title next time out.

And according to The Sun, United will spend around £250m across the January and summer transfer windows.

Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho are United’s top transfer targets to take the club back to the top.

Express Sport understands RB Salzburg star Haaland, 19, has told Solskjaer he wants to head to Old Trafford in January.

The striker could be joined by Borussia Dortmund’s Sancho at United.

The England international has impressed in the Bundesliga, however, he has been disciplined for attitude problems this season.

United are hoping to swoop in and beat rivals Chelsea and Manchester City to the winger next year.

The Sun add that United could have up to £400m to spend if they sell Paul Pogba next year, who is valued at around £150m.

Haaland warning sent

Manchester United have been told to consider the signing of Erling Haaland carefully, knowing that their attack is already littered with young players. That’s the opinion of Matthew Upson, who believes United need to add some experience in the final third.

“He’s physical, he’s different to what they’ve got,” he said of Haaland on The Debate.

“He’s more of a player, I don’t see him with all the frills and wanting to do the spills.

“He is direct, he will run at people and he will shoot. He’s got a powerful strike.

“He looks like a powerful athlete, he’s got the stature to lead the line so does he fit the bill? Yeah, he does.

“The only thing is, he’s a young player, so do they need another young player? What is he, 19 or 20?

“He’s another young player to throw into the mix.

“That for me, is the only negative for him about that club.”

Erling Haaland development

Erling Haaland has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he wants to sign for Manchester United in January.

Reports suggest Solskjaer flew to Austria this week to meet with the highly-rated youngster.

And the Mirror claim Haaland has told the United boss he would like to move to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens next month.

The 19-year-old missed Salzburg’s game against Hartberg on Saturday ahead of Austria’s two-month winter break.

That means he could have played his final match for the club if a big-money move materialises next month.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms plans

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United will splash the cash in January or next summer.

“I’d been watching. I had a clear idea of what a Man United team should look like,” Solskjaer said.

“I have been part of a Man United team and you do want to go back to our traditions of attacking quick, attacking football with pace, power, personalities out there. And that is what we are doing.

“Obviously we are one or two players down in numbers but it doesn’t have to be this window, it might be the summer window. But we are going to strengthen.

“We are going to get starters into this team. We need to.”

Jadon Sancho update

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Jadon Sancho have been dealt a blow by neighbours Manchester City.

Reports have claimed that Pep Guardiola wants to re-sign the forward because he fears Leroy Sane could potentially leave the club, with Bayern Munich keen on bringing the winger back to Germany.

Sancho left City in 2017 to pursue a new challenge in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, having spent two years at the Premier League club’s academy.

He was left out of their pre-season tour squad that summer after asking for assurances over his playing time.

City were unable to give him that which resulted in the failure to agree a new contract.

Yet now, according to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions are plotting a deal to bring him back to the Etihad.
