Man Utd continued to be linked with managers, including Mauricio Pochettino, although former Juventus boss Max Allegri has his sights set on a leading Premier League outfit

Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has already committed himself to an English side amid speculation he could return to the Italian giants.

Allegri left the Serie A champions at the end of last season with the two parties opting to part ways by mutual consent.

He has continued to pick up a salary from Juventus and has maintained his stance that he will not accept any job until next season.

Links with Manchester United have therefore cooled for now amid speculation he was set to taken over mid-season, but should the Red Devils miss out on European football all together he could well be drafted in.

However, according to Corriere Della Sport, the 47-year-old is set on a leading Premier League side, which many believe to be United.

They are the only one of England’s elite sides who could be in the market for a manager in the coming months with pressure very much still on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Old Trafford hierarchy have continued to back the Norwegian but inconsistency has made it difficult to assess what the squad are capable of.

Allegri has been keen not to take over any team midseason given his eagerness to enjoy a pre-season with any side he assumes the reins of.

His CV would certainly lend itself to a team of United’s history and stature having won the Serie A title with both Juventus and AC Milan.

During his five years in Turin he won the league title every year and added the Coppa Italia on four occasions.

It was his failures in Europe that ultimately pushed Juventus to make a change having lured Maurizio Sarri from Chelsea in the summer, but he is now coming under increased pressure with the Bianconeri in a genuine title fight with Inter Milan and Lazio.
