Meghan Markle and Harry leave royal fans waiting as Christmas card plans ‘not finalised’

MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry’s Christmas card plans have not yet been finalised.

Royal fans are looking forward to seeing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2019 Christmas card after their stunning black-and-white surprise in 2018. When asked if one would be released to the public this year, a palace spokeswoman told the Mirror: “We haven’t finalised plans yet.”

Meghan and Harry shared their Christmas card on December 14 last year.

It featured a black-and-white picture from their royal wedding in May 2018.

The couple had their backs to the camera as they watched fireworks in the grounds of Frogmore House during their reception.

In a tweet, Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share a new photograph from their Wedding Reception at Frogmore House on 19th May.

“The photograph, which features on Their Royal Highnesses’ Christmas card, was taken by photographer Chris Allerton.”

Meghan and Harry’s fans will be hoping Archie makes an appearance on this year’s Christmas card.

A source told E! News that Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland could also be included.

The insider said: “Harry and Meghan are said to want [to]ensure that some of their Christmas card images reflect that Doria is very much part of their family and of Archie’s upbringing.

“It is a break with protocol from traditional royal Christmas cards, which haven’t historically included grandparents.

“For instance, Kate’s parents – Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton – have never appeared on any of their Christmas card images.”

It comes as Meghan and Harry are taking a six week holiday from public duties.

The couple admitted they were struggling with the pressures of royal life in a documentary filmed during their recent Africa tour.

They will spend Christmas Day with Doria, rather than joining the Royal Family in Sandringham.

It is their first Christmas with Archie, who was born in May.

In a statement released in November, Buckingham Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month.

“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’s mother Doria Ragland.

“This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”
