QALAT, Afghanistan, March 25 (Xinhua) — A total of 27 militants have been confirmed dead in Afghanistan’s southern Zabul province as cleanup operations have been continuing in Shinkai and Mizan districts of the relatively troubled province over the past 24 hours, said an army statement Thursday.
According to the statement, 18 more militants have been injured over the period.
The security forces have also destroyed seven motorbikes and large quantity of arms and ammunitions used by the insurgents, the statement said, adding that several villages have also been cleared from the militants.
However, the statement didn’t say if there were casualties on security personnel.
Taliban militants who are active in parts of Zabul province with Qalat as its capital 340 km south of Kabul have yet to make comment. Enditem
