Mum, 69, arrested by six police while walking dog at anti-lockdown protest

A woman who was walking her dog as an anti-lockdown protest took place, was thrown to the floor and arrested by six police officers.

The mother-of-four was pinned to the ground as around 150 people protested at a park about 10km from Melbourne city centre in Australia.

A video shows the 69-year-old shout for her phone as she is surrounded by officers, she can be heard shouting before two pull her hands behind her back to handcuff her.

One officer shouts: “Keep your hands behind your back, you’re under arrest.”

The woman starts screaming no and tries to walk away before she is boxed in and arrested.

She can be seen being escorted to another area of the park to speak with officers, who remove the cuffs and hand her a fine.

Speaking after she was let go by officers she said: “It hurt, I have never been treated like this in my life.”

The woman then falls to the ground and curled into a ball crying.

Victoria Police did not comment on the woman’s arrest or fixed penalty that was issued.

It is not clear if the woman was part of the protest or just walking her dog nearby.

Around 150 people gathered to protest against Melbourne’s Stage Four restrictions on Saturday.

Victoria Police confirmed they issued 21 fines and arrested 16 demonstrators as up to 150 people clashed with officers during the rallies.
