OUTLANDER is going to be eventful next year, when it returns with its fifth season. Last year saw Jamie Fraser being placed in a tough situation, but could it get even worse as he has to turn on Claire Fraser?
Outlander season five is going to be tense. Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) had a tough time in season four, as he had to work hard in protecting his family from the evil forces throughout the season. Perhaps the toughest choice for Jamie was whether to keep Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) around after he deserted his daughter Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton).
Season five is going to see Jamie taking on an even more difficult situation, as he is involved in the American Revolutionary war.
And while he is simply trying to look after his family in the new episodes, he will no doubt become embroiled in the dramatic scenes that are about to happen.
Earlier this year Jamie star Sam spoke about the situation the character is involved with.
And he went on to talk about how he’s simply trying to protect his people.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “Jamie’s actually in a really difficult situation this season.
“He’s done a deal with the British, but he’s working for two different camps.
“He’s trying to protect his people, and he’s trying to protect Fraser’s Ridge.”
Despite his allegiances, Sam explained his heart is not with his company.
He went on to add: “To be honest, we all know Jamie’s heart.
“His line of thinking is more in the direction of the regulators than the Brits.”
While Jamie is working hard to keep his family safe, he will surely do some dreadful things to keep everyone he loves safe.
But will this include lying to his wife, Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe)?
Claire will no doubt be hoping Jamie does the right thing with his ongoing career, but she may not be able to deal with the actions he’s carrying out.
But will Jamie’s ongoing actions drive a wedge between the power couple?
Meanwhile, later in the interview Sam spoke about the “scars” Jamie will have in the fifth season.
Jamie has endured a lot of hardship throughout his life so far.
Season four was particularly difficult, but he has managed to pull himself back together.
In the interview he said: “[The scars] are still the same. Maybe over time, they are not as brightly coloured.
“The scarring has faded but Jamie does get new scars this season as well. There is a lot of scarring going on.”
