Palestine records 333 new COVID-19 cases, 13,457 in total


RAMALLAH, July 27 (Xinhua) — Palestine recorded on Monday 333 new COVID-19 cases in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, bringing the total number in the Palestinian territories to 13,457.

So far, 80 have died from the novel coronavirus while 4,981 have recovered, with 8,396 active cases, the Palestinian health ministry said in a press statement emailed to Xinhua.

In an earlier statement, the ministry said one death and 769 more recoveries were recorded in the Palestinian territories in the past 24 hours.

Currently, 13 patients are receiving intensive medical care, two of whom are on ventilators, said the ministry statement, noting the number of daily infections in the worst-hit district of Hebron has been declining.

Earlier in the day, Ibrahim Milhem, spokesman of the Palestinian government, told a news briefing that the government will declare new precautionary measures in the Palestinian territories for the Eid al-Adha holiday. Enditem
