Palestine reports 11 new COVID-19 cases, 700 in total


RAMALLAH, June 16 (Xinhua) — Palestine on Tuesday announced that 11 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the West Bank, bringing the total number of infection cases to 700.

According to a statement by the Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila, four of the new cases were found in Hebron, two in East Jerusalem, two in Ramallah and two in Bethlehem and one in Tulkarem.

The health ministry noted that it temporarily shut down two sections in two hospitals in Hebron and Ramallah after some of the diagnosed patients visited them.

It also said the death toll stood at five while a total of 570 cases have recovered from the virus.

China has helped Palestine in its fight against COVID-19 outbreak.

A Chinese medical team, which arrived in Palestine on June 10, is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with Palestinian counterparts until June 17.

Prior to this visit, China had sent medical supplies to Palestine and organized several meetings between Palestinian and Chinese medical experts via video conferences. Enditem
