RAMALLAH, July 23 (Xinhua) — The Palestinian Health Ministry on Thursday reported three new deaths from COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 70.
The ministry also reported 596 new cases of COVID-19, raising the total number of confirmed cases of the deadly virus to 11,882.
The number of active cases in Palestine stood at 8,411, including 16 patients who were admitted to intensive care units, out of which five are connected to respirators.
The ministry urged the public to follow precautionary measures carefully and take the matter seriously, by wearing face masks, repeatedly washing hands and maintaining social distancing.
In June, the Palestinian government imposed a set of restrictions in the West Bank in an attempt to control the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus.
Small businesses and shops were allowed to open until sunset but banned during weekends, with the exception of the pharmacies and bakeries.
Churches and mosques, as well as child care and health centers remain shuttered, in addition to a total ban on public gatherings and transport between cities. Enditem
