Police: a woman steals a friend’s car, hits pedestrians, and leads cops on a high-speed chase.

After allegedly stealing her friend’s vehicle, striking multiple pedestrians, and leading police on a high-speed chase, a Dauphin County woman was arrested Friday.

After stealing her friend’s vehicle in the Target parking lot in South Middleton Township around 2:30 p.m., Chontelle Melissa Shirk, 40, of Dauphin, is charged with felony robbery of a motor vehicle, theft, burglary, fleeing or attempting to elude police, and summary diving on a suspended license.

Today is Friday.

Shirk allegedly struck a number of pedestrians as she fled the scene.

Residents in Penn Township later saw Shirk, and the Nissan Versa she was driving was discovered in a barn on Lebo Road that was on fire when police arrived, according to police.

She then proceeded to steal a Jeep Compass from a Deer Ridge Lane garage, leading police on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of around 100 miles per hour, according to police.

Shirk was apprehended on Lambs Gap Road after surrendering.

She is being held in the Cumberland County Jail in lieu of (dollar)40,000 cash bail.
