Prince Harry Will Return Home In December Possibly Without Meghan Markle, Source Suggests

Months after stepping down as a senior member of the royal family, Prince Harry is said to be planning to return home before the end of the year to meet with Queen Elizabeth II. However, Meghan Markle is still undecided about joining her husband on his trip to England, a report said.

An unnamed source told Us Weekly that Frogmore Cottage, the residence of Markle and Prince Harry in the U.K., has been prepared for the Duke of Sussex’s arrival in December. But the insider suggested that Prince Harry may make the trip without his wife.

“As of now, Meghan is not sure she will be flying over with Harry,”  the tipster added.

In an earlier report, an unnamed source claimed that Prince Harry and Markle were considering going back to the U.K. for Christmas this year after spending the holidays in Canada in 2019. The insider said that the duke and duchess both loved the holiday traditions of the royal family.

“With the uncertainty of COVID, they have been taking it one day at a time and are hopeful that they can all go back together and spend it as a family,” the tipster told Us Weekly in September.

Prince Harry wanted his son Archie to connect with Queen Elizabeth II in person after having bonded with the monarch over Zoom, per the report.

“Harry is so close with his grandmother, and he is excited to get Archie back [to London]so that they can see her,” the insider said.

While the Sussexes have yet to confirm their holiday plans, Prince Harry appeared more than ready to return to England in an August Zoom chat with staff and volunteers from the Rugby Football League.

“We’ve got a whole rugby league World Cup coming next year,” he said. “I definitely plan on coming back. I would have been back already had it not been for COVID.”

Of course, the pandemic would bring some complications to their potential plans, including whether or not Prince Harry, Markle and Archie will have to quarantine for two weeks once they arrive in the U.K.

Early in September, a spokesperson for the couple announced that they have paid in full the renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage. The amount, estimated at $3.1 million, was first shouldered by taxpayers through the Sovereign Grant.

“A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by The Duke of Sussex,” the spokesperson said. “This contribution as originally offered by Prince Harry has fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty The Queen, and will remain the UK residence of The Duke and his family.”
