QINGDAO, China, July 17 (Xinhua) — Thanks to Wang Qingming’s key three-pointer, the Qingdao Eagles edged the Beijing Royal Fighters 95-91 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Friday, clinching a berth in the playoffs.
Qingdao held a 38-30 advantage going into halftime as Beijing made only 11 of 40 from the field, including 2 of 16 from 3-point range, and they opened the second half with a 15-4 run for an insurmountable 20-point lead.
After Sun Yue led Beijing to initiate a 24-8 run in the final quarter, Wang sealed the victory for Qingdao with a crucial three-pointer.
Six players for Qingdao reached double figures in points. Yang Jinmeng notched 17, Jiao Hailong added 13, while both Zhao Dapeng and Wang had 10. Kyle Fogg scored a game-high 20 points for Beijing.
Beijing is set to meet the Liaoning Flying Leopards on Sunday, while Qingdao will face the Shanxi Loongs on Monday. Enditem
