S. Korea reports 113 more COVID-19 cases, 14,092 in total

SEOUL, July 25 (Xinhua) — South Korea reported 113 more cases of the COVID-19 as of midnight Saturday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 14,092.

The daily caseload jumped above 100 in 115 days since April 1 due to a surge in imported cases and the continued small cluster infections.

Of the new cases, 86 were imported from overseas, lifting the combined figure to 2,244. It was the biggest imported case on a daily basis.

A total of 293 South Korean construction workers arrived here from Iraq on Friday, and 36 of them tested positive for the virus.

Of 94 sailors on board a 7,733-ton Russia-flagged vessel that entered a port of Busan, the country’s southeast port city, 32 was confirmed with COVID-19.

No more death was confirmed, leaving the death toll at 298. The total fatality rate stood at 2.11 percent.

A total of 49 more patients were discharged from quarantine after making full recovery, pulling up the combined number to 12,866. The total recovery rate was 91.3 percent.

Since Jan. 3, the country has tested more than 1.51 million people, among whom 1,484,861 tested negative for the virus and 19,681 are being checked. Enditem
