San Lorenzo end five-game winless streak against Estudiantes


BUENOS AIRES, March 29 (Xinhua) — San Lorenzo ended a five-game winless run with a 2-0 away victory over title challengers Estudiantes in Argentina’s Primera Division on Monday.

Nicolas Fernandez struck a 12th-minute opener before Juan Ramirez doubled the visitors’ advantage with a 68th-minute goal.

The result lifted San Lorenzo to 10th in the 13-team Group A standings while Estudiantes slid to sixth, eight points behind leaders Colon.

Meanwhile, Cristian Lema’s 86th-minute goal earned Newell’s Old Boys a 2-2 draw at Atletico Tucuman. Franco Negro had given the visitors an early lead but Augusto Lotti equalized early in the second half and Guillermo Ortiz then put the hosts ahead with 10 minutes left.

In Monday’s only other fixture, Gimnasia La Plata drew 1-1 at Huracan. Enditem
