Shocking moment motorist ‘deliberately’ hits baby seagulls in car park before driving away

SHOCKING footage shows the moment an Audi driver ran over two baby seagulls – as social media users claim the incident was ‘deliberate’.

Upsetting video shows the moment the motorist hit the young birds in a car park in Folkestone, Kent.

Some viewers say the gulls were targeted deliberately by the driver.

And officials from the RSPCA and Kent Police are now investigating whether the road-kill incident was an accident or intentional.

The video footage, taken from a CCTV camera, shows an Audi driver pulling out of a parking space in Tram Road, near the port town’s harbour.

In the car’s path are two small seagulls standing in the middle of a lane.

The driver of the black car continues to drive forward – directly towards the birds.

Then, without slowing, the car hits the gulls, with one seen going under a tyre.

Witnesses to the shocking incident say one of the creatures was killed on impact, while the second suffered terrible injuries to a wing.

Two bigger gulls can be seen flying to safety as the car leaves, before returning to the smaller birds on the carriageway.

The footage captures piles of feathers on the road as the motorist carries on driving, finally turning out of the car park.

The video has sparked anger after it was posted on social media.

Some users claimed the driver could see the birds and ‘deliberately’ targeted them.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “This is very upsetting to see.

“This has not been reported to the RSPCA but we would urge anyone with any information regarding this incident to call our national cruelty line on 0300 1234 999.”

It’s illegal to pursue, hunt, kill or sell a seagull as they’re protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
