AN ARTIST is convinced he had a ‘past life’ after finding his doppelganger in a photo from 1905.
Michael Koropisz, 24, has been left baffled by the image of a man who could be his twin – despite it being taken 115 years ago.
The keen artist, who is known for his love of the Victorian era, said he felt ‘spooked’ after being sent the photo by a friend.
The black and white picture taken in 1905 shows a young man in his early 20s sat on a chair looking up at his new wife – and the pair are believed to have just got married.
Michael, from Stockport, Manchester, has since shared a photo of himself in the same position to show the uncanny resemblance between them.
Michael said: “I was sent the photo on Instagram as someone thought it was me. They’d seen it on a website for collars.
“I was gobsmacked when I realised it wasn’t me, we have the same hair, face shape, nose and dress sense.
“When I reverse image searched it online, I knew it wasn’t fake and was in fact taken 115 years ago.”
He added: “I’ve always been obsessed with the 19th century era and have dedicated my wardrobe and lifestyle to it and now maybe that’s because of my past life.
“A lot of people have called me a ‘time traveller’ online but I don’t know what to think.
“It has to be one of the most bizarre things I’ve seen, it really does look just like me.”
Despite being a young man in the 21st century, Michael insists on living in the past by dressing only in Victorian clothes and filling his house with antiques.
Michael also travels by vintage bicycle, writes in quill and ink, and refuses to watch television.
He is now certain that he has taken such a keen interest in this period due to having a past life.
Michael added: “I don’t know anything about the man in the photo taken in 1905 but by the looks of his fashion, he was either from the UK or US.
“It really spooked me at first as I have never seen anyone look so similar to me.
“I feel like I’m looking at a recent image of myself when I look at the photo but of course it’s not.
“I’m convinced I’ve had a past life now.”
Michael shared his doppelganger discovery with his 14,000 Instagram followers, who were shocked by the likeness.
One fan commented: “Very cool to see these side by side! You truly look very much alike!”
Another said: “Totally mind blowing, both of you are very handsome.”
And one wrote: “This is wild!”
