The story of Gareth Bale in Real Madrid has been a struggle for the Welsh star as he’s long been expected for an exit from the club. The Tottenham Hotspur’s organization is linked as the favored squad for Bale, currently edging out Manchester United.
A return to the Hotspur is a possibility for Bale as reports have indicated that he’s ready to come back to Tottenham over picking Manchester United, per ESPN. The former Hotspur player of the year was seen as one of the best stars in the world with the way he dominated on the field.
While there has been an interest for Bale from the Red Devils, the four-time Champions League winner is more inclined to assist Harry Kane and the rest of the Lillywhites, as reported by Goal.
Throughout his career, he was able to make a name for himself as a proficient scorer. In 203 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, he scored 56 times and tallied 58 assists. The former English League Cup Winner then transferred to Real Madrid in 2013 where he has currently played in 251 games coupled with 105 goals and 68 assists.
One of the key factors in Bale’s departure can be linked to his relationship with Zinedine Zidane. The two big names haven’t had the strongest connection in the past few years. It has been heavily documented that Zidane and Bale didn’t meet eye-to-eye. Considered as one of the more prolific players in the game, Bale only saw 16 appearances in this year’s La Liga season and was seated on the bench for 10 games.
The current market value of Bale is estimated at 28 million Euros. The veteran player is still seen as an asset given the rough time he’s had in the past year with Real Madrid.
Although Bale was part of the latest La Liga championship that Los Blancos won, the lack of playing time and reported turmoil had him out of the rotation for the majority of the games. While it was still an overall strong stay with the Santiago Bernabeu-based squad for Bale, it will be interesting to see what a Tottenham reunion will do for his morale as a professional.
