Freshers’ weeks, which are usually full of pub crawls, will be held almost entirely virtually on most campuses.

And some universities will require students to wear masks in any communal space.

At University College London, all student ragers will have to be carried out virtually.

The university website states that social gatherings will not be permitted in halls, however “there is a host of activities and events that you can get involved with as a community in a digital format”.

Meanwhile Cambridge University students will have to apply to have visitors while Aberystwyth University has banned students from having overnight guests altogether.

It seems highly likely that parties and bonking will also be banned at Manchester University.
