Woman, 66, ‘strangled and beaten to death’ at home as two arrested over murder

TWO men have been arrested – one on suspicion of murder – after a 66-year-old woman was ‘strangled and beaten to death’ at a London home.

Suzanne Winnister was found collapsed at around 9.15pm on Tuesday night at a property in a quiet residential street in Bexley, South East London.

An ambulance was called to the address at Becketts Close, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination took place yesterday.

It gave cause of Ms Winnister’s death as severe head and neck injuries.

A 68-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was taken to a south London police station, where he continues to be questioned.

He and the victim are believed to be known to each other.

A 64-year-old man also arrested in connection with the investigation has been released under investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman said: “We are at the very early stages of our investigation.

“We have arrested two men and our enquiries continue.

“Our thoughts remain with the deceased’s family at this sad time.

“I urge anyone who has information, but has not yet come forward, to get in touch without delay.”
