‘Yet another one of our precious children,’ says a 2-year-old Pennsylvania boy who accidentally shoots himself.
A bullet was fired through his lower stomach and out his back by a 2-year-old playing with a handgun at home.
Fortunately, the boy is alive and in stable condition following the shooting in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, according to the Associated Press:
It’s unclear how the boy got his hands on the gun, which was discovered next to a bed.
At the time, the boy’s parents, two other adults, and a 6-year-old were also present in the house.

The parents took their son to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was in critical condition at the time.
According to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw, the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
“Another of our beloved children has been critically injured as a result of gunfire.
While the manner in which the child was shot is still under investigation, it is clear that we must do everything we can as a community to ensure that our children are safe at home.”
