The president of the Council of Ministers, Vicente, Zeballos, reported that the economy is operating between 50% and 55%, less than the 80% announced by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).
“At this point, something more than 80% of activities economic productive should be in full operation. We have not reached that percentage. It’s pretty minor, we are between 50% and 55%, approximately”, the official said in a dialogue with TV Peru.
Zeballos explained this performance by the strict health protocols must certify the business before re-enabling operations, to avoid contamination of coronavirus.
“Each company has to go to protocols and requirements to safeguard health of their workers, perhaps that is a first rate-limiting”, he said.
However, he said that the Government is easing the procedures to avoid bureaucratic obstacles, which hinder the economic recovery.
“We are giving all sorts of scenarios that involve an immediate resumption”he said the prime minister.
