Virgin Galactic will unveil its SpaceShipTwo cabin today – how to watch live from the UK

From Virgin Galactic to SpaceX, several private space firms are racing to become the first to launch tourists into space.

Now, Virgin Galactic is set to inch ahead of its rivals, by unveiling the interior cabin of its SpaceShipTwo.

The unveiling will take place at 18:00 BST tonight, and will be streamed on Virgin Galactic’s YouTube channel here.

Mirror Online will also be covering the event live, so make sure you check back in at 18:00!

George Whitesides, CEO of Virgin Galactic, said: “One of the defining hallmarks of the Virgin brand has been experience-enhancing, pioneering design.

“Virgin Galactic has striven to remain faithful to that tradition by developing elegant, experience-focused vehicles for the space launch system, and choosing landmark architecture for our operational headquarters at Spaceport America, New Mexico.

“We now look forward to revealing our spaceship cabin design, which is progressive, beautiful and functional.

“We are particularly delighted that, under current restrictions, we have been able to create an experience that we will be able to share with the millions of people around the world who dream of travelling to space.”

According to Virgin Galactic, the cabin will provide safety without distraction, offering astronauts a ‘level of intimacy required for personal discovery and transformation.’

During today’s livestream, viewers will be given a virtual walkthrough of the cabin.

Virgin Galactic has already started training tourists who have signed up to fly into space.

At £200,000, a ticket to ride into space on board Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo isn’t cheap, but it seems that that hasn’t put off many keen travellers.

More than 600 people from 60 countries have signed up, according to Virgin Galactic.
