Anthony Lynn Says It Like It Is When It Comes To Losing Play-Calling Duties

Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Detroit Lions, decided to take over play-calling duties on offense last Sunday.

In a 16-16 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers, they ended up scoring 16 points.

Despite losing his play-calling job last weekend, Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn sees it as a promotion.

In fact, he claims that if he had been in Campbell’s shoes, he would have made the same decision.

“I wouldn’t put it that way.

Lynn told the Detroit Free Press, “I don’t know, I don’t see it as a demotion.”

“I’ve been in Dan’s shoes, and if I was 0-8 and needed to spark my team, I probably would’ve done the same thing as an offensive player, to be honest with you, and I have.”

If I disagreed with what he did, I would be a hypocrite.”

Campbell taking over play-calling duties, according to Lynn, is primarily motivated by the desire to communicate directly with Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

“He wanted to communicate with the quarterback, and only one person can do that, so he’s wearing the headset and I’ll be calling plays.”

I’ll make the call through him, and I’ll help him out and do whatever he needs.”

Campbell will remain the Lions’ offensive play-caller for the rest of the season, according to Lynn.

He simply stated that he must be prepared to call offensive plays at any time.

Lynn added, “Not necessarily.”

“We’ll see,” says the narrator.

I have to be ready at all times.

As a result, I’m probably busier than I’ve ever been before.”

The Lions will play the Browns on Sunday.

Then we’ll find out if Campbell or Lynn is calling the plays.
