Arsenal Twitter account hints at Aubameyang new contract with ‘signing off with a W!’ and snap of striker amid talks

ARSENAL’S official Twitter account teased a potential new deal for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after their 3-2 final day win over Watford.

The Gabonese forward netted twice as the Gunners sealed victory to end what has been a turbulent Premier League campaign on the field.

But fans will be desperate for some imminent good news off it – with captain Aubameyang locked in new contract discussions.

The 22-goal striker has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Emirates.

Arsenal’s official social media channels appear to be teasing an extension, however.

Following the victory, they posted an image of Aubameyang, 31, celebrating one of his goals, accompanied by the “Writing Hand” emoji that often goes alongside new contract announcements.

They captioned the post: “Signing off with a W!”

And it’s not the first time of late than an announcement has appeared in the pipeline.

In training on Saturday, while grinning ear-to-ear, Aubameyang himself appeared to make a signing gesture with his hands, sending some fans online into frenzy.

One wrote: “Don’t tease us @Aubameyang7”.

While another added: “Is Auba teasing us? 😂. Please sign the new contract my G”.

Talk was also rife among Gooners online during Sunday’s match.

One hopefully posted: “Sign da ting fam”.

While another demanded of the club’s admins: “Announce the contract”.

Barcelona have repeatedly been linked with the Arsenal talisman, amid their hunt for a new striker this summer.

But the Gunners are hoping to stave off interest from Camp Nou with an improved £250,000-a-week offer.

Manager Mikel Arteta remains optimistic.

He told Sky Sports: “”I like the way conversations are going, I like what I’m hearing.”
