Benfica starlet Joao Felix confessed to being in awe of Cristiano Ronaldo, to the point where it looked like the Portugal captain was in a video game.
Felix witnessed the talent of his Portugal team-mate up close, playing alongside the hat-trick hero in the 3-1 victory over Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League semi-final.
The teenager said: ‘It was weird. I had never seen him live, so close to me like that. I told my friends later that it looked like I was in career mode in PlayStation. He looked like a video-game figure.’
‘It was weird. I had never seen him live, so close to me like that.’ The starstruck youngster is one of the hottest properties in European football and has been compared to his compatriot in glowing terms.
The 19-year-old has a release clause of £105million and is a target for Manchester United, City and Atletico Madrid.
He was dropped to the bench by Fernando Santos for the Nations League final and Portugal went on to beat Holland 1-0.
But it was Ronaldo who left a lasting impression on him.
‘I was just thinking that I was standing there by his side,’ he went on. ‘It was strange, but it was a dream come true to be with him in the same locker room.
‘Ronaldo is an example for everybody. We always have to look up to him.’
