Bolton set to lose starlet Luca Connell for just £240,000 should he move outside England

Bolton Wanderers could lose prized asset Luca Connell for as little as £240,000 if the teenage star decides to move outside England.

A group of clubs – including Celtic – are leading the chase for the 18-year-old who was recently called up to a Republic of Ireland training camp.

Connell signed an academy contract extension with Wanderers, who are currently in administration.

The Liverpool born star, who can play in defence and midfield, will no doubt be viewed as a potentially lucrative resource for the five interested parties looking at taking over Bolton, who will begin next season in League One with a 12-point penalty.

However, Connell could go for less than £250,000 should he decide to head north of the border or even walk away from his own contract.

The move to extend Connell’s academy contract, rather than hand him a professional deal, is viewed as something as an own goal by Bolton’s previous regime.
