Carlo Ancelotti is determined to stop Liverpool winning the title at Goodison Park as he admits Jurgen Klopp’s side will win the Premier League this season.
The Everton manager, speaking ahead of the weekend meeting with Crystal Palace, was quizzed on the prospect of Jurgen Klopp’s side securing their maiden Premier League title at the home of their city rivals.
But Ancelotti, while speaking glowingly of Klopp and his players, joked there ‘are a lot of other stadiums’ where they can seal the title.
‘Liverpool are going to win the Premier League,’ the Italian manager said on Friday.
‘I hope not at Goodison Park. There are a lot of other stadiums. Why Goodison Park?’
The two sides meet in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on March 16 and with the current points averages, Liverpool could potentially wrap up their stunning title in the derby, much to the ire of Everton supporters.
Klopp’s side are currently 22 points clear of nearest challengers Manchester City and are cruising to their first top flight title since 1990. They need just 18 points from their remaining matches to clinch the title.
That points return would take them through to March 21 at Anfield against Crystal Palace but should City drop further points, Liverpool could get the chance to win the league away to rivals Everton.
