Celtic are the only club to have made an offer for Bolton teen star Luca Connell.
Sportsmail understands that while there is considerable interest in the 18-year-old, the Glasgow giants have stolen a march on their rivals.
Sources say that Celtic officials have been speaking to administrators at relegated Bolton, who are subject to a number of takeover bids.
The former Premier League outfit, relegated to League One last season, triggered an extension in Connell’s academy contract, rather than offering him a professional deal.
That move means that the youngster, recently with the Republic of Ireland squad, can move for training compensation with Neil Lennon now set to bring him to Parkhead.
Connell made 12 appearances in all competitions for Bolton last season.
