CHELSEA could be forced into selling N’Golo Kante or Jorginho in order to sign Kai Havertz this summer, according to reports.
The Blues are thought to be leading the chase for the Bayer Leverkusen attacker, who is valued at £90million by his current club.
With the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech for a combined £85m, Chelsea know they need to raise some more funds to secure any further big deals.
And according to the Mirror, Kante or Jorginho could be the valuable asset they decide to let go.
Jorginho played under Maurizio Sarri at both Napoli and then Chelsea so could now be a transfer target for Juventus.
The Italian international came off the bench for the first time since the season restarted on Tuesday, playing the final ten minutes of the win at Crystal Palace.
But his agent Joao Santos reckons it is unlikely his client will leave this summer due to Chelsea’s high asking price.
Kante, meanwhile, has been a long-term target for both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Casemiro has excelled in Los Blancos’ midfield over recent seasons and PSG already have Idrissa Gueye who plays a very similar style to Kante.
Defenders Kurt Zouma and Emerson remain linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge with Tottenham and Inter prepared to pay a combined £48m, according to reports.
The likes of Michy Batshuayi, Marcos Alonso, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Kenedy could all be heading out.
Havertz is the now thought to be the No1 priority on Chelsea’s wish list – and a transfer looks to be edging closer.
The German, 21, told his club he wants to leave for a “dream” Premier League move and talks are reportedly underway with his agent.
Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller insisted the player can leave if a club meets their demands.
He told Bild: “We have an agreement – if it fits, he can go this summer.
“As of now, he is a player of ours. We have our ideas, we know what he can do.
“I personally hope that he stays one more year. Of course, you can’t force anyone.
“Havertz knows what he owes to his colleagues, the fans and club.”
Frank Lampard’s side had hoped to pay around £70m for him after forking out to sign Ziyech and Werner.
Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claimed his club cannot afford to make a move for Havertz this summer.
The German champions just spent £55m to land Manchester City winger Leroy Sane so their interest in the Bayer sensation cooled – as has Real Madrid’s for now.
England internationals Declan Rice and Ben Chilwell remain on Frank Lampard’s radar, too, as does the possibility of bringing in a new goalkeeper.
