Chelsea full-back Ola Aina has joined Torino on a permanent basis after the Serie A side took up the option to secure his signature in a £8.7million deal.
The defender impressed during a loan spell at the club last season, which saw make a total of 30 appearances in all competitions, and has now completed his move to the club.
Aina, who was an academy graduate of Chelsea, departs the club despite their transfer ban restricting them from re-investing the money in the market.
Thanks @Aina2Ola, and good luck for the future!
Chelsea originally had been reluctant to lose the promising Nigeria international and monitored him closely last season with plans to promote him to the first team.
However, the club have decided to let Aina leave for Italy with the defender understood to have signed a long-term contract with Torino.
‘Everyone at Chelsea Football Club would like to thank Ola for his services and we wish him the best of luck for the next stage in his career,’ the club said in a statement.
Torino are planning to welcome two more players through their doors with president Urbano Cairo revealing that they will make permanent signing of Christian Ansaldi and Koffi Djidji, who were on loan at the club last season.
He told Sky Italia: ‘We exercised our option to buy Aina, as well as Ansaldi and Koffi Djidji. Now Torino own all their players.’
