Crystal Palace are among the English clubs to have checked on prolific Hungary striker Nemanja Nikolic.
The 32-year old is a free agent after his contract finished with Chicago Fire in the MLS.
Nikolic won the MLS Golden Boot in 2017 and finished a three year spell in the US boasting 51 goals in 96 appearances for Fire on the back of 40 in 54 at previous club Legia Warsaw.
Greek side Olympiakos and Besiktas from Turkey have both discussed offering him a contract but Nikolic is keen to test himself in England.
Strikers are at a premium in the Premier League and Championship this window and as a free agent, Nikolic has the luxury of being able to sign after January 31 when the window has closed.
Palace have signed Cenk Tosun on loan from Everton but are still in the market for another forward with the possibility Christian Benteke could yet leave while Connor Wickham is a target for Sheffield Wednesday and other Championship clubs if they can agree personal terms.
