Desmond Howard’s Heisman Trophy Admission Is Brutally Honest

The race for the Heisman Trophy in 2021 is heating up – sort of.

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud are in a tight race for college football’s most prestigious award.

However, not everyone is impressed by this year’s crop of candidates.

Desmond Howard, an ESPN college football analyst and former Heisman Trophy winner, had a brutally honest assessment of this year’s race.

Desmond Howard said on College GameDay, “It’s such a lackluster race.”

“I’m trying to come up with three candidates for whom I have strong feelings and whom I want to put on the ballot.”

That, in my opinion, is not the purpose of the Heisman Trophy.

We shouldn’t be looking for guys and looking through statistics.

We need someone to take charge of this award.”

This hasn’t happened so far.

However, there are a few major games left.

Perhaps Young or Stroud – or someone else – will seize control of the race as the season approaches its conclusion.
