Dortmund chief insists ‘it’s not easy’ managing Sancho

Borussia Dormund’s sporting director, Marcael Zorc, admits “it’s not easy” managing Jadon Sancho, following his latest off-field slip.

Sancho was fined £8,000 for breaking lockdown guidelines to get a haircut from a celebrity hairdresser, leading Dortmund teammate Emre Can to insist the England international must “grow up”.

This is the latest in a number of incidents of misjudgement from Sancho, including being “considerably late” to a team meeting and an ill-advised social media post displaying a lavish Christmas holiday, which angered the Dortmund fanbase.

And Zorc admits that despite Sancho’s obvious talent – leading Dortmund to want £115million from suitors to prize him from the club – his behaviour off the pitch can make life difficult.

He told SportBild: “Jadon is not only an exceptional footballer who is noticeable on the pitch but now and then also outside of the pitch.

“Sometimes it’s not easy for us.”
