Fabinho’s wife Rebeca Tavares breaks silence after couple’s house is burgled

Fabinho’s wife Rebeca Tavares has confirmed the couple are “safe” after their home was burgled during Liverpool’s title celebrations.

The Reds midfielder was celebrating with his wife and team-mates at Anfield when thieves broke into his home in Formby.

On Friday, Rebeca took to Twitter to respond to those wishing the couple well. She tweeted: “For all those who are asking… we are safe!”

Police confirmed an Audi RS6 and items of jewellery were stolen in the raid. The vehicle was later recovered 22 miles away in Wigan.

The burglary was discovered when the couple returned home in the early hours of Thursday morning. Police say thieves targeted the house sometime between 3pm on Wednesday and 4am on Thursday.

Liverpool beat Chelsea at Anfield in the penultimate game of the Premier League season, before celebrating with the Premier League trophy.

Club legend Kenny Dalglish was involved in the presentation as players and staff members received title winners’ medals.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hailed his side’s success on Wednesday night.

He said: “It’s 100 per cent one of the greatest days in my life, to finally get my hands on this trophy when everybody was waiting to get their hands on it.

“Two or three years ago nobody thought it would be possible for us so I will be proud of the boys and it’s a milestone, we should see it like that.

“It’s a very important day but not the last very important day for us. We will be in very good spirits. It’s a little like Christmas – even if you know what present you are getting, it’s still exciting when you get it.”
