Former Alabama player who transferred has a message from Nick Saban.

During his weekly radio appearance on Thursday night, Alabama head coach Nick Saban addressed his team’s running back situation.

Saban brought up one of his former players during the discussion.

Due to the Crimson Tide’s running back shortage, Saban stated that Keilan Robinson would “play a lot” if he stayed at Alabama.

Robinson rushed for 254 yards and two touchdowns on 39 carries with the Crimson Tide this season.

Robinson was signed by the Texas Longhorns after missing the entire 2020 season.

Robinson’s decision to transfer so early in his career, according to Saban, could have been a mistake.

That’s because if he hadn’t transferred to Texas, he would have been able to play this season at Alabama.

“That’s where these guys can be a little short-sighted,” Saban said Thursday night, “when they misread sort of what their opportunity would be if they tried to stay and compete.”

Alabama doesn’t have many healthy options at running back right now, with Roydell Williams out for the season.

On the depth chart, Bijan Robinson will remain the starting tailback, but he can only do so much.

Keilan Robinson’s role at Texas this season hasn’t been particularly impressive.

This season, he’s only had 27 carries for 194 yards and two touchdowns.

Former Alabama football player Nick Saban has a message for him.
