Hayden Hurst Is No Longer With The Falcons

Hayden Hurst of the Atlanta Falcons was ruled out of tonight’s game against the New England Patriots yesterday.

The team has now taken this injury designation a step further, as of Thursday.

Hurst has been placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury, which means he’ll be out for at least the next three games.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Falcons have promoted practice squad TE Parker Hesse to the active roster as a result of this move.

Hurst has taken a backseat to rookie first-round pick Kyle Pitts after serving as Atlanta’s top tight end option in 2020.

The fourth-year tight end had 20 receptions for 158 yards and a touchdown on the season prior to his ankle injury suffered in last week’s blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Pitts will have to shoulder even more of the receiving load now that Hurst is out.

The former Florida Gator leads the Falcons in targets (64), receptions (40), and receiving yards (606) through his first nine NFL games.

Hesse has played in two games for the Falcons so far this season, but has yet to record a stat.

Tonight, at 8:20 p.m., Atlanta will face the Patriots in a game.
